Phyllis Gayheart, born on May 15, 1929, passed away on September 24, 2025, in Xenia, Ohio. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments, leaving a legacy of warmth, compassion, and an enduring spirit.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother, known for her commitment to her family and the joy she found in her various hobbies. She enjoyed raising horses alongside her husband, a passion that brought her joy and fulfillment. Gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, and, after the death of her husband, spending time at the beach with her sister collecting shells were among her many interests that showcased her creativity and love for nature. Additionally, Phyllis had a fondness for horse racing, where she spent cherished moments at the track, engaging in conversations and sharing stories with friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Mason and Ollie (Burchett) Fannin, her beloved husband, Chester; son, Danny Eugene Gayheart; and grandson, Troy James Gayheart.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sherry Ann Gayheart and Laetta Faye Gayheart (Wayne Jones). Phyllis also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Tara Ann Limoco (Jason), Danell Lynn Yauch, Jessica Myria Noes (Brent), and Chester Tyler Gayheart and granddaughter-in-law, Cynthia Gayheart; great-grandchildren, Kayla Jean, Cody James, Jarod Tyler, Justin Wyatt, Samantha Taylor, Zachary Jackson, Morgan Kennedy, Erin Madison, Alex Jason, Aiden Matthew, Ava Grace, and Jillian Myria; great-great-granddaughter, Sutton Layne as well as extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 30, 2025 at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Robert Huff officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Phyllis will be laid to rest next to her husband Chester at Byron Cemetery.
