Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park EastPhyllis M. Gillespie 94, Indianapolis, died October 13, 2025. She was born on November 24, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Mallie and Edna Gardner. Phyllis worked in the School of Education at IUPUI for 20 years. She was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors: children, Denyce (Joseph) Heidelman and Brent (Mary) Gillespie; grandchildren Heather (Bill) Becker, Josh (Susan) Heidelman, Samantha (Kyle) Ferling and Jessica (Lukas) Retherford; great grandchildren, Saris, Jakob, Madeline, Danielle, Luke, Will, Kate, Natalie, Aria, Leo, Eliza and Emerson; great great grandchild, Zane; sister, Janice Lamkin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billie J. Gillespie whom she married July 3, 1948; sister, Colleen Steinbruegge and her parents.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and Memorial Service at 4:00 PM on November 29th in the Foundation Social Hall at Westminster Village North (Sycamore building, door #4, east side of campus).
Entombment was at Washington Park East. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Indiana Alzheimers’s Disease Research Center.
