Darris Holton, 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 20, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1937, in Hustonville, Kentucky, to the late Walter and Della Holton.
Darris moved to Indianapolis, where he met the love of his life, Betty A. Holton. They were married for 68 wonderful years and built a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, and family.
He proudly worked at and retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, where he dedicated many years of hard work and craftsmanship.
Darris was a man who loved the simple joys of life - fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was known for growing the best tomatoes around, and you could always find him out back tending to his garden or feeding the local squirrels. His gentle spirit, humor, and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Betty Holton; his children Ricky Lee Holton, Mary Ann McNulty (John), and Thomas Eugene Holton (Jessica); his brother Phillip Holton; his sisters Judy Poling (David) and Debbie Pedigo; 11 grandchildren - Chris Holton (Melody), Caren Walkosz (Annie), Amy Holton (Scott), Lindsey Elliott (Jonathan), Deveney McNulty, John "JT" McNulty III, Kaitlin Holton, Blaine Holton (Emily), Luke Holton, Madison Holton, and Carter Holton; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Della Holton; his brothers Lloyd, Otis, Glenn, and Clyde Holton; his sisters Jewell McKee and Alma Koch; his daughter-in-law Denise Holton; his granddaughter Catherine Holton; and many other beloved family members, friends, and pets.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Darris's life at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Franklin Township Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Visitation will be from 4:00–8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with additional visitation on October 31, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with a service to immediately follow. Darris will be laid to rest at Acton Cemetery in Acton, Indiana.
Darris's love for life and family ran deep - like the waters where he loved to fish. He leaves behind a legacy of patience, kindness, and devotion. His line may be cast for the last time, but the stories and love he left behind will keep reeling us back to him.
