In Loving Memory of Susan Elizabeth Shultz
Susan Elizabeth Shultz, 65, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 4, 1960, in Indianapolis, she was the beloved daughter of the late William James and Dorothy Elizabeth (Davis) Emerson.
On April 28, 1990, Susan married the love of her life, Christopher Shultz, in the Emerald Room at Prestwick at the Crossing. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with adventure, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Susan was not only Christopher's biggest fan but also an integral part of his racing career, traveling across the country and even serving as a member of his pit crew.
A proud graduate of North Central High School, Susan lived a life rich with passion and purpose. She found joy in the simple pleasures: traveling in their motor home, boating, watching sunsets, and immersing herself in the beauty of nature. She especially loved hiking with her cherished dogs, Murphy and Max.
Susan was a radiant soul; graceful, kind, and endlessly selfless. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Christopher Shultz; her loving siblings, Joan (Mark) Haas, Carol Emerson-Louden, and David (Stephanie) Emerson; her loyal canine companions, Murphy and Max; and many adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tom Emerson.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, honoring Susan's legacy of compassion and care.
