Allan "Al" L. Hoffman, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. Born on May 22, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Raymond J. and Mary Rachelle (Wright) Hoffman.
Al dedicated over 30 years of his professional life in various fields of the automotive industry which included semi truck and automotive sales, insurance estimates, a pit crew member for Ray Skillman's racing team, and he ended his career as the Parts Manager for Ray Skillman. He was respected for his knowledge, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his work. His career was marked by steadfast loyalty and a genuine spirit that earned the trust of colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond his professional achievements, Al found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid plastic model builder, which included memberships over the years in clubs like IPMS-Roscoe Turner, Indy AMPS, and Circle City Modelers to name a few. He won numerous awards for the models he built and was even a model builder/reviewer for Scale Auto Magazine. He enjoyed reading and was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Bengals, and the Indianapolis Colts. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends-those moments of connection and laughter meant the world to him.
Above all, Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie P. (Brandmaier) Hoffman; his son, Steve Hoffman and daughter-in-law Liz; and his cherished grandchildren, Van, Charlotte "Charlie", and Frances "Frankie." He is also survived by his sister, Melanie Hoffman. Al's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. Al will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his dedication to those he loved, and a life well lived. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew him.
