Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Phyllis June Hennard passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024 at Colonnades Assisted Living at the age of 98. She was born June 26, 1926 in Bay City to the late Arthur and Esther (Bierwirth) Werner. Phyllis married the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, Lawrence J. Hennard on May 24th, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1987. Phyllis graduated from Bay City Central and enjoyed the time spent as secretary of her class reunion committee. She volunteered for many years at the Michigan Heart Association and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She took pleasure working in her garden, cooking, and baking for everyone she loved. Phyllis will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, and excellent memory. Family was the joy of her life. We will all greatly miss her.
She is survived by children: David (Linda) Hennard, June (Scott) Munger, Polly (Mike) Ueberroth; Special grandmother (Nana) to David (Erica) Hennard, Clint (Jennifer) Munger, Cody (Brooke) Munger, Grant Ueberroth, Roslynn Ueberroth, Darcie (Billy) Strange, and Christine Hennard; 8 beloved great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way. She had many cherished lifelong friends and neighbors. Along with her parents and husband Lawrence, she was preceded in death by son Lawrence "Larry" F. Hennard, grandson Brian Hennard and her siblings: Arthur Werner, Marie Mueller, Mildred Legatz, and Doris Abels.
A Funeral Service for Phyllis will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Squires Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather for visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00. A private burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery will take place.
