Phyllis Terry Hering

Williamsport, MD – Phyllis Terry Hering, 93, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Thursday December 12, 2024, at Homewood at Williamsport.
She was born on July 18, 1931, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Paul Mitchell and Millicent Mary (Clark) Terry.
Phyllis was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, PA.
Throughout her life, she was employed as a registered nurse for over 25 years.
Phyllis started her schooling career at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA and later attended a nursing program in Los Angeles, CA to become a registered nurse. She was an OB nurse for over 20 years and is what she enjoyed the most. She spent time as a missionary in Romania with her second husband, Merrill Hoyt. She enjoyed knitting from the time she was a young child until the last few years of her life.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth M. LaRue and her husband Steve of Hagerstown, MD; son Peter A. Maize and his wife Wendy of Hong Kong, China; several stepchildren; brother Dr. Stephen C. Terry and his wife Kathy of Palo Alto, CA; grandchildren Emily, Peter, Bennett, Christopher, and Melissa; great grandchildren Elizabeth and Avery.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 3 husbands John Maize, Merrill Hoyt, and Joseph Hering.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
