Funeral services for Phyllis “Rickey” Irene Richardson Howe, 66, will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Community Church in Gloster, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Stonewall Cemetery in Stonewall, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bill McLain.
Rickey was born on April 3, 1957 to Bob and Marsha Lea Richardson in Mansfield, Louisiana and passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her daughters on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Gloster.
Rickey was a resident of Gloster, Louisiana. She graduated from Central High School in 1975 and Louisiana Tech in 1978. She was married to the love of her life, Gregg Howe, for 35 years and together owned and operated Kickapoo Corner for over 25 years. She was well known throughout the community for her sweet smile and kind, gentle nature. Her passions in life were her relationship with the Lord and the gift of her family. She had many titles but her favorite was “MawMaw.” She loved spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to love and support them. She loved to cheer for her favorite LSU Tiger in the LSU Tiger Band. She also enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family.
Rickey is preceded in death by her husband, Gregg Howe; father, Bob Richardson; sister, Leahnette Saloom, brother, Pat Richardson, and infant brother, Robert Richardson; in-laws, Dena and Maxcy Howe; sister-in-law, Mary Travis; and grandparents, Phyllis and Richard Hosey and Irene and John Richardson.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Marsha Lea Richardson; daughters, Mary Lea Waller (John) and their children, Michael, Paige, and Chelsea; Rachel Magee (Doug) and their children, Madison and Caroline, and Hannah Huckabay (Layne) and their children, Lillie and Payton; and nephew, who was like a son to her, Lee Travis (Kerri-Ann) and their children, Kenlee and Bryce; siblings, Danna and Mark Boudreaux, Amy and Hugh Bailey, Robert and Jennifer Richardson, Kaliste Saloom and Nanci Richardson; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and countless friends.
Honoring Rickey as pallbearers are Jack Burford, Chuck Burford, Hugh Bailey, Nathan Huff, TC Hall, Kaliste Saloom, Brad Saloom, Mark Boudreaux and Michael Waller.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. V and his staff, especially his nurse, Stephanie and her Hospice nurse, Jennifer.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Lions Club or a charity of their choice.
