She knows who
July 24, 2023
Phyllis Hazel Jerden was born 27th of November, 1926 in Norwich, England and left us unexpectedly on 15th of October, 2021. A long time resident of Hillside, NJ, Lacey Township, NJ and most recently a resident of Mahoning Valley, PA, she enjoyed living in the countryside just as she did as a child back in England. She was very proud of her heritage and it showed in that her strong English accent stayed true throughout her lifetime. Phyllis was the glue that kept her family together, despite their differences and uniqueness. She was the longtime wife of William H. Jerden, who passed away in 2005. Phyllis was the mother of two sons, Michael W.J., deceased and formerly of Forked River, and Steven who remains living in Lehighton. She was a grandparent to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis was not big on socialization, but her presence was enough to make most feel comforted and safe. She returned to live with her son Michael, and grandson Jonathan, for many years in NJ before heading back to PA upon Michael´s passing away. Phyllis enjoyed playing a card game known as "around the clock", playing handheld casino games in the 90s, playing Candy Crush on her phone in present day, as well as completing large puzzles. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and spending time with her sisters, though sadly many had left this earth before Phyllis. Phyllis had many siblings and even family members who still reside in England present day. Her sister Beryl of Southwold, a niece Carol, a nephew John who left the earth in 2018, grand nieces, Nikola and Karen, a grand nephew Gary and wife Shelly and all their lovely children. Phyllis was a former member of Forked River Presbyterian Church along with her husband of over 50 years. They had moved late in life to Mahoning Valley to be closer to family. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her friends and family alike. She was loved by all because of her ability to find the best in everyone. That is a quality of hers that will forever live on in the hearts of all who she had touched over her lifespan. In lieu of flowers, please pay yourself first before all others as she would say. And when you´re thirsty be ready to meet Friday and how´s about Saturday take a walk to the movies. May God Bless her and all her family forever. Xx
