Phyllis Jean Johnson

Phyllis Jean (Finstad) Johnson was born on April 23, 1941, in St. James, Minnesota, to Hjlamer and Florence (Beckius) Finstad. She died on December 12, 2025, at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Phyllis grew up on a farm close to Godahl, MN and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1959. She attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1963. She married Larry Thorvald Johnson on December 31, 1963. For the majority of her career she taught Math at Anoka Junior High in Anoka, MN. She retired from teaching after 35 years in 1999.

Her interests included spending time with her family, reading, gardening and crocheting. She loved her two grandchildren and happy to spend as much time she could with them. Since her retirement she lived on a lake in Alexandria, MN and most recently in Excelsior, MN. When summer's end was near, she attended the Minnesota State Fair, many years more than once. She loved to travel, mostly by car or truck, spending winters in Texas and Florida.

Survivors include son, Todd Johnson of Fort Myers Beach, FL, granddaughter's, Nicole Johnson, of Chicago, Lillian Johnson, of Minneapolis, brother's Dennis (Mary Anne) Finstad, Richard (Becky) Finstad, Howard (Sharon) Finstad, sister, Colleen (Finstad) Kibbon and Ron Kibbon, Sister-in-law Janet (Johnson) TeBeest and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Finstad.
