Phyllis Rae Knutson, a beacon of unwavering faith, competed her earthly journey on August 27, 2025, in Crown Point, Indiana, at the age of 88. Born on April 2, 1937, in Gary, Indiana, Phyllis's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, perseverance, and the joy of giving. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Phyllis's life was shared with her beloved husband of 65 years, Ronald Knutson, Sr., who remains a pillar of strength and

commitment. Together, they nurtured a family that grew to include their cherished children: Ron Jr. (Sherrie) Knutson, Lori Kwasny, and Kari Knutson. Phyllis's love extended to her grandchildren, Cameron (Brittany) Evans, Will (Tarissa) Fortson, Trent (Abby) Fortson, and Justin Jayasinghe, and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Paris, Lilly, Buddy Wade, Mikey and Presley, who brought her immense joy and purpose to her life.

Phyllis was preceded in passing by her sisters, Betty Lou Parks and Doris Jean Collins.

A woman of keen intellect and admirable skill, Phyllis was a proud graduate of stenographer school, wielding her shorthand certificate with distinction. Her professional journey included valued positions at EJ&E RR, Owens Corning, Ditto (where she met her husband Ronald), and ultimately, Bank One, where she made her mark as a dedicated student loan officer.

As a devout Christian and avid reader, Phyllis's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She read the Bible daily, living its teachings with every breath. Once retired she consumed approximately 8,000 novels.

Phyllis's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. An avid sports fan, she cheered for the Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks with fervor, and her enthusiasm for weekly football with the family became a cherished tradition. Her hands, always busy knitting and crocheting, gifting her family with pieces that were not just items of warmth but woven with her love and care.

Today, as we reflect on the extraordinary life of Phyllis Rae Knutson, let us celebrate the gift she was to this world. Her story does not end with her departure; it continues in the lives of those she touched. Her influence will be felt for generations, and her memory will be cherished as a source of hope and inspiration. Phyllis's journey reminds us that a life lived in love and service is a life that echoes into eternity. May her soul rest in the peace of the Lord she so dearly loved.

There will be a graveside service, at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Graceland Cemetery, 1505 E. Morthland Drive, Valparaiso, (219) 462-3511.
