Phyllis Ann Lewis

Phyllis Ann Lewis, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, left this earth Wednesday, January 17, 2024, moving on to make her heavenly home an even more beautiful space. A remarkable creative soul leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work. Friends and loved ones will gather at a memorial service to celebrate Phyllis's remarkable life, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2:00PM at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5431 U.S. Hwy 190 in Belton.

Phyllis was born July 16, 1945, in Tahoka, Texas, to the late JD and Lorene Spruiell Hodge. Phyllis spent most of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished their presence throughout her life. In her career, Phyllis served as an Executive Secretary in the banking and electric coop industries. Her dedication and professionalism were evident in every task she undertook. After retiring from her corporate role, Phyllis found joy in working side by side with her sister in cleaning homes and transforming spaces into beautiful havens. She had an incredible talent for taking anything plain and making it unique and stunning.

Phyllis was a woman of many interests and hobbies. She found solace in fishing and camping in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico, immersing herself in the natural beauty that surrounded her. The Sandia Mountains of Albuquerque held a special place in her heart, often seeking refuge amidst the peaks known as Sandia Crest. Animals also held a special place in Phyllis's heart; she had a deep love for dogs and all creatures great and small. It wasn't unusual to find her going out of her way to help injured or struggling animals like raccoons.

A loving and nurturing soul with an indomitable work ethic, Phyllis carried herself with grace throughout her life. She approached each day with an unwavering commitment to action; always doing something productive or uplifting those around her. Her passion for turning houses into homes shone through as everything she touched became infused with love.

Above all else, Phyllis's greatest joy came from her daughters and grandchildren. She loved them passionately, and they were the light of her life. Phyllis was a beautiful soul, always offering sage advice and guidance with a loving heart. Phyllis proudly raised her three daughters, Missy, Kim and Gena, and they will forever carry her love in their hearts.

Phyllis's legacy continues through her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Michelle "Missy" Hurley of Temple, Kim Godin and her husband, Joe of Moody, and Gena Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; her sister, Martha Ravan of San Tan, AZ; grandchildren, Kyle Oldham and his wife Wendy, Jay and Connor Hurley, Emily and AJ Garcia; great-grandchildren, Mason, Emerson, and Ellery Oldham. In addition to her immediate family, Phyllis leaves behind numerous other loving family members and cherished friends who will miss her dearly.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, JD and Lorene Hodge; brothers, James Hodge and Gene Hodge; sister, Donna McGill; and grandson, Jake Aaron Godin.

While words cannot fully capture the essence of Phyllis' vibrant spirit, let us remember her unwavering determination and giving nature. She was a courageous fighter until the end, facing life's challenges head-on with grace and resilience.

Phyllis impacted countless lives during her time on Earth. Her loving presence transformed houses into homes, offering comfort and beauty to all who entered. Her dedication to her family showcased the depth of her character and the boundless love she possessed.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us carry forward the lessons she taught us: to love without bounds, work tirelessly with passion, and find beauty in every corner of life. Phyllis's memory will forever be etched in our hearts as we strive to live our lives with the same zest and determination that she exhibited. Rest peacefully, dear Phyllis, your legacy shall endure.
