Phyllis Kathryn Marra

Phyllis Kathryn Cannata Marra (birth name Filippa Felica) was born May 8, 1927, and passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 9, 2025, at the age of 97. Phyllis was the oldest of 3 children born to Gaetano (Thomas) Cannata and Caterina (Catherine) Sampogne Cannata. She was the big sister to Steve (spouse Gloria) and Bobby (spouse Marie). Phyllis was raised in Corona, Queens, New York and attended P.S 19, P.S. 16 and graduated from Newtown High School in 1945. She met the love of her life, Alexander Marra, while working in Midtown Manhattan in 1946. They were married on October 30, 1949, and raised 5 children, Kenneth (spouse Louise), Michael (spouse Robbin), Barbara (spouse Robert), Christine and Alexander (spouse Esperanza). Phyllis and Al were happily married for 59 years, most of which was spent in their home in Franklin Square, N. Y. In addition to her 5 children, Phyllis had 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Phyllis' family will welcome family and friends to honor her memory on the evening of February 13, 2025, at Franklin Funeral Home, 42 New Hyde Park Rd., Franklin Square, N.Y., 11010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held for Phyllis at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 33 New Hyde Park Rd., Franklin Square, N. Y. 11010 on February 14, 2025, at 9:30 a. M. A burial at Calverton National Cemetery will follow after the Mass.
