Phyllis Mae McLemore, age 86, of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 5, 2025, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK. She was born on August 9, 1939, in Peggs, OK to George Houston and Dolly Angeline (Littlefield) Whittington.
A 1957 graduate of Broken Arrow High School, Phyllis's nurturing spirit was evident early on. She married the love of her life, Robert C. McLemore, Sr., on May 30, 1958, and together they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an ever-growing family. Phyllis was a devoted homemaker, a role she cherished and in which she excelled, creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered.
Phyllis's love for her family was her guiding light. She is survived by her loving daughter, MaryAnn Hawkins (Dennis) of Broken Arrow, OK; her sons, Jim McLemore (Melodee) of Wanette, OK, and Flip McLemore (Tammy) of Broken Arrow, OK. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Mallory Hawkins, Max Hawkins (Kaitlin Thomas), Jimmie Grider (Lucas), Bradley McLemore (Ariel), Cheyenne McLemore, Aimee Armstrong (Matthew Mencer), Delaney McLemore, and Kyle McLemore (Caitlin), as well as her 17 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind her sister, Debby Cornelius, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will cherish her memory.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert C. McLemore, Sr., her parents, George Houston and Dolly Angeline Whittington, her daughter, Robyn Grissom, her grandson, Jack Grissom, and her sisters, Diane Holt, Georgia Clayton, and Linda Helton.
Her interests were a reflection of her generous spirit. Phyllis enjoyed playing Bunco, quilting, sewing, and making clothes and costumes for her family, pouring her creativity and care into every stitch. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Broken Arrow, OK, where her faith and fellowship were a source of strength and comfort.
Phyllis’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, the strength of family bonds, and the grace of a life well-lived.
The viewing will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. A graveside service to celebrate Phyllis's life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK, with Rev. Brody Morris officiating.
