Phyllis Meisner Obituary
Phyllis Sondra Meisner (nee Lawence) died peacefully at her home in Riderwood Village on February 15, 2026. She was 94 years old. Phyllis was born on January 21, 1932 in New York, NY to Percy and Annie Lawrence (nee Pearlman). She survived her sister, Joyce (Alvie) Scaduto and her husband of 65 years, Milton Meisner. Phyllis is survived by her children Robin (Glen) Cameron, Robert Meisner, and Lisa (Reggie) Holt as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Phyllis grew up in the Bronx, graduated from Evander Childs High School, and worked as a bookkeeper at a jewelry store in the City. After Milty spent a few years working abroad and serving in the U.S. Army, Phyllis proposed to him and they were married on February 5, 1956.
In 1958, Phyllis and Milty welcomed their first child, Robin. The young family moved to the DC area for Milton's job with the Federal Aviation Administration. Phyllis quickly adapted to life in the suburbs, welcoming two more children, learning to drive, adding several beloved dogs to the family over the years, and eventually working in the accounting department of Harry Diamond Laboratory (US ARMY). In retirement, Phyllis was an active grandparent who thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren's theatre productions and sporting events - as well as innumerable shopping trips to White Flint Mall.
Phyllis is remembered fondly for her kindness, compassion, unflappable calm, and endlessly forgiving spirit. She loved animals, children, shopping, and musical theatre. She could make friends with anyone, especially while waiting in line for the ladies' room. Despite spending most of her life in the DC suburbs, Phyllis's love for New York City never faded. Even when she needed the support of her walker, she zipped her way through the halls of Riderwood like they were crowded city blocks.
Services will be held privately.
