Phyllis J. Miller (nee McDavid) passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024. Beloved wife of Don Miller for 64 years and loving mother of Kimberly (Jim) Stewart and Jeff (Linda) Miller. Phyllis was the proud Grandmother of Austin, Kenton, Rachel, Abby, AJ and Mandi and really enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Jack, Kai, Hallie, Brewer, Bria, Brogan, Brecken, Braysen, Brylee and Braxton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the St. Paul Community United Methodist Church (CUMC), 8221 Miami Road, Madeira, OH 45243, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the church via mail or online at https://stpaulcumc.churchcenter.com/giving.
Phyllis was a nurse and caregiver of others. Heaven received a true angel on December 28, 2024. Phyllis was an emergency room nurse at The Christ Hospital out of school. Married to Don Miller at age 20 and became mother to Kimberly at 22 and Jeff at 24. She then stayed home to raise her children and went to work at a physician's office in the early 1980s.
Phyllis absolutely loved people. She never had a problem talking to strangers. It was uncanny how she could easily approach people and they would respond. Phyllis had so many groups of friends she encountered. A list of a few of these that have spanned the ages are below.
Bridge Groups – So many of their friends played bridge and Phyllis was pretty competitive!
Study Group from Church – they are still friends from the 1960s. It's a special bond that has lasted a lifetime.
Church – The United Methodist Church has always been a staple in the family. Phyllis and Don taught preschool, were greeters, helped with membership and were probably more of an integral part of the church than we know. They showed us how important God is in our lives.
Kindervelt #30 – Phyllis was a member of this group for over 30 years and held several positions, always loving to contribute to such a great organization.
Farm Group – an incredible group of friends from P&G since the early 1970s. The group shared a 365-acre farm where all our families came together to enjoy and work on.
Traveling Companions – Phyllis loved to travel. She and Don got to enjoy many exciting trips with great friends for many years.
Family and friends were everything to Phyllis. She loved seeing everyone, reminiscing and creating new memories.
Her children, Jeff and Kimberly, reflected, "Everyone who met our parents commented on how they could see the love, respect and care they had for each other through 64 years of marriage. They are so very blessed to have been soulmates and have so much time together. Our dad has been the most devoted caregiver to our mom through these past years, and especially during her final three months. We know our mom is forever grateful. And we know we have been blessed with the best of parents."
