Phyllis Ann "Lebanon" Neilsen

Phyllis Ann Neilsen, daughter of Barney L. and Edith Johnson Walters, was born August 2, 1947 in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, September 15, 2025, in her home in Cabool, Missouri. She was seventy-eight years, one month and thirteen days of age. Phyllis grew up in the Falcon, Missouri area and attended Falcon Baptist Church. She attended school in the area and graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of 1965. Following graduation, she was married to a man in the United States Army and they were stationed in Germany. While there, Phyllis was employed in the kitchen on base and learned how to cook for a crowd. After returning to the Missouri Ozarks, Phyllis worked for Brown Shoe Manufacturing Company and then was employed at Rawlings Sports Plant in Licking, Missouri. She liked her work at both facilities and made many friends while there. On December 27, 1990, Phyllis was united in marriage to Soren Neilsen. Together they traveled thousands of miles all over the United States in his big rig, making wonderful memories while learning about different parts of the country. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Edith; and a brother, James Walters. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-four years, Soren Neilsen, of the home; one son, James Christopher Tyre and his wife Tammy of Waynesville, Missouri; two sisters, Jenny Intres and her husband Chuck of Falcon, Missouri and Mary Hicks and her husband Bill of Lebanon, Missouri; five brothers, Lonnie Walters and his wife Beverly of Michigan, Jerry Walters and his wife Debbie of Nixa, Missouri, Doug Walters and his wife Sherry and Edward Walters and his wife Star, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jacob Walters and his wife Jennifer of Falcon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Judy Walters of Hebron, Nebraska; a number of nieces and nephews; and others relatives and friends. Following their time on the road, they returned to Cabool, Missouri where Phyllis enjoyed fishing and crocheting. For the past few years, she had worked as a bus monitor on the school bus as needed. Family was so very special to Phyllis and she looked forward to the times they could be together. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved taking pictures of her family. Phyllis was a hard worker throughout her life. She found joy in life's simple blessings. Her greatest joy came from being with her family. Her legacy of faith, family and love will continue to live on through the lives she touched. Service for Phyllis Ann Neilsen will be Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Monarch Cemetery. A memorial to Monarch Cemetery has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
