Phyllis LaFleur Ortego passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the age of 70. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
At the request of family, visitation will be held the same day from 9:00 AM until time of Services.
Phyllis' dedication to education, unwavering support for students and staff and passion for learning left a lasting impact on the community.
Her love and support for her family was unwavering and never ending.
Phyllis had a deep and lifelong love for horseback riding. Whether riding at the Camp in Forest Hill, going over mountains, or simply enjoying quiet moments with her favorite horse, Beau, Phyllis found peace and joy in the saddle. She often gave her time to help others discover the thrill and serenity that comes with horseback riding.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, John Hillard Ortego; her step-son, John B. Ortego (Jenny); her step-daughter, Angela O. Lalonde (Danny); three grandchildren, David and wife Lainey, Ben, Cody; ten great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brianna, Peyton, Emmie, Ava, Julianna, Nicholas, Raven, Adeline and Owen; nephews, Trey (Alexis), Chad (Lauren) and Dillon (Destani); nieces, Monique (Peter) and Jeannie, as well as loving family members Carmel, Vonnie and Donna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winnes and Margie Fontenot LaFleur; her brother, Wayne LaFleur and her nephew, Chance LaFleur.
