Phyllis B. Osherow(Freda Bat Lebel), of Pompton Plains, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 101. Devoted wife of the late Samuel A. Osherow. Beloved mother of Meryl Balaban and her husband Michael, and David Osherow. Loving grandmother of Lisa, Barry and his wife Julianne, Dan and his wife Beth, Lauren and her husband Adam, Erika, and Luke. Cherished great grandmother of Rachel, Matthew, Ben, Violet, Madden, Dexton, and Berkeley. Dear sister of Lenore Levine. Daughter of Hattie and Louis Bizar, of blessed memory.
Phyllis was born in Paterson in 1922. She would raise her family in Paterson and Teaneck, before relocating to Florida, then eventually returning to New Jersey in the final years of her life. She was well known for her talent as a cook and as someone who enjoyed travelling the world. Phyllis stayed very active for most of her life. She loved to walk, swim, and played bridge up until her final days. Most of all, Phyllis was a devoted family woman, staying active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
