Phyllis Jean Robertson Owens was born February 15,1930 to Theodore and Viola Robertson. She was born during the depression which made it a tough start to her life. She was the last of 7 children. When Phyllis was 14 her mom passed away, which caused her to miss out on a lot of her mom's teachings. She had a special teacher who taught her to sew, cook, can, crochet, and many other things. Who would have guessed she would make a career of her sewing skills. Her mom would have been so proud.
Mom was married three times. Her first was Edwin Owens, second was Jerry Ash, and third was Charles Scroggins, all of whom have passed. She had 5 children by Edwin Owens. Anita, Karen, Daniel, Terri, Patrick.
Mom had a great love for God which led her to lead 2 small group bible studies for 10 years each. Mom also loved traveling which led her to the Holy Land and various other countries around the world.
Mom had many pastimes and interests. She was in the Crimson Chicks chapter of the Red Hat Society, and several card clubs. So, in doing all that she had many friends. She also loved painting or going out on the lake and casting a fishing pole into the water. At one time she caught a catfish by its tail.
Her greatest pleasure in life was encouraging and nourishing relationships of her family, teaching them to love and care for each other.
Mom is truly missed. She passed away in her home surrounded by her children, on April 20,2025, which was resurrection Sunday. What a beautiful day to go to heaven.
