Phyllis Powell Obituary
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Sara Starnes Hazel.
In high school, Phyllis played on both the basketball and softball teams. Not only was she an athlete and good friend, she was known for her beauty, having won the title of Miss Calhoun Falls. She later became a talented hairdresser and cosmetologist and dedicated many years to her craft, building lasting relationships with her clients. She loved being on the water, whether it was at the beach or on the lake, where she enjoyed relaxing on her pontoon. An avid dancer, she especially loved the shag, often found moving to the rhythm with friends and family. A member of Grace Community Church, her faith was an important part of her life. Above all else, Phyllis loved her family and will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Phyllis is survived by daughters, Paige Guthrie (Rob) and Tracy Cromer (Darin); and grandchildren, Kaylen Cromer and Ryder and Reef Guthrie.
