Phyllis J. Rockwell, age 94, of
Mount Vernon, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 26, 1931, in
Mount Gilead, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Mary (James) Healea, and was raised on their family farm. Phyllis was a 1949 graduate of Chester Franklin High School in Chesterville, Ohio. She met her future husband, Robert Rockwell, while working at Beck's Point Drive-In and they married in April 1950.
Together, they ran Twin Oak Orchard in Mount Vernon for many years, and Phyllis later retired from Mount Vernon Development Center after 12 years of employment.
An avid walker and traveler, Phyllis took part in 10-kilometer volksmarches across the country. She visited 48 of the 50 states and her love of traveling led her to visit countries across the world. Phyllis was also a terrific cook, specializing in several homemade dishes she often made for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia (Tom) Parker of Mount Vernon, grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Hachat of Lancaster and Jeremy (Brooke) Hachat of Delaware, step-grandchildren Sarah (Adam) Hunter of Lexington, and Angie (Nick) Deni of Ashburn, Virginia, great grandchildren, Isaiah Hachat, Naomi Hachat and Eliana Hachat, step-great grandchildren Caitlin Hunter, Ethan Deni and Bella Deni, nieces and nephews, Diana (Walter) Ramsey, Sherry (Steve) Efird, Laura Rockwell, Mike (Becky) Rockwell, Todd (Cathy) Rockwell, Kent Rockwell, sisters-in-law, Irene Healea and Barb Rockwell.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rockwell in 1979, a son, William Charles Rockwell, two brothers, Warren Healea, Gerald Healea, brothers-in-law, Lester Rockwell and Ken Rockwell, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Healea.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, beginning at 11 am at Owl Creek Baptist Church, 4044 Owl Creek Church Road,
Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where friends may call from 10 am until the time of the service. Pastor Bill Barton will be officiating. The family will observe a private graveside service in Mound View Cemetery.
The family greatly appreciated the kind and loving care given to Phyllis by the staff at Ohio Eastern Star Home and by Capital City Hospice.
Memorial contributions in Phyllis's name may be made to Owl Creek Baptist Church or Capital City Hospice.
