We honor and celebrate the beautiful life of our mother, Phyllis Pierce Rudd-a woman whose love wove together many generations and who filled our lives with stories, laughter, and unwavering care.
Phyllis was born on October 22 or 23, 1950-depending on who you ask-to Roy and Mabel Pierce of Creeksville, NC. There's a story behind that, of course, and any of us would gladly regale you with it. That was our mom: a storyteller who could turn the simplest memory into something magical, who cherished the quirks of life and taught us to do the same.
She was the loving mother of three children: Jenny Elizabeth Rudd Patterson, together with her husband Josh and children Jordan and Justus; Andy Warner Rudd, and his spouse Honor and son Calvin (Cal); and her youngest daughter, Brittaney Alexandra Rudd. Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy. She delighted in caring for them, sharing old stories, and watching them grow, always reminding us of the unconditional love only a mother and grandmother can give.
Our mother found freedom in driving between all the points of our family-her car a vessel for connection, her journeys a testament to her devotion. No distance was too great if it meant being present for those she loved.
But perhaps her greatest peace was found when her toes sank into the sandy beaches of North Carolina, her eyes gazing out over the endless ocean. There, in those quiet moments, she was at home-her spirit as boundless as the waves before her.
Phyllis passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. We pray that she is breathing deeply and fully now, knowing she is profoundly loved and forever cherished. Sweet dreams and Happy Trails, Mom. May your journey onward be as joyful and full of adventure as the life you lived with us.
Her Loving Children,
Jenny, Andy, and Brittaney
