Phyllis Jean Schofield

Our loving mother & grandmother, Phyllis "Jean" Davidson Schofield, born December 10, 1928 passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025. We are heartbroken, but so thankful that she is no longer suffering.
Jean was born in Simpson, KS, the second of four children, born to Ellen Mayette Morse Davidson and Arthur Winston Davidson. The family moved to Montevallo (Dry Valley) AL, where Jean met & married Robert Smith Schofield (Brierfield) after his return from serving in the Army in WWII (Purple Heart recipient). They moved to Columbiana AL in 1953, while pregnant with their son, & each lived there until their deaths (1983 & 2025).
Jean worked for the Shelby County Board of Education for many years as the lunchroom manager at Elvin Hill Elementary School, Columbiana AL, & retired in the early 90's. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, & she was an active member of Widow's Mite at Liberty Baptist Church. For many years, she enjoyed her daily trip to the Senior Center in Columbiana, playing Uno or Pinochle, she enjoyed traveling & working her word search puzzles.
She was a wonderful mother & grandmother, & great-grandmother. She truly loved her family, & we loved her, but we are comforted in the knowledge that she is reunited with her family & friends who have gone before her.
Jean is survived by her children, Jerry Arthur (Gayla) Schofield, Calera, AL and Bobbie Jean McCullers, Columbiana, AL; grandchildren Katie Jean McCullers (Stuart) Wagner, Chelsea AL, Robert Bryant (Jaclyn) Schofield, Calera, AL & Anna Estell (Kyle Lollar) McCullers, Sterrett, AL, Michael Davidson (Abbie) Schofield, Alabaster AL, & Meredith Jo (Henry Barrett) McCullers, North Vernon, IN; and 4 great-grandchildren, Clara Annette Lollar, Natalie Taylor Schofield, Bennett Cash Schofield, & Aubrey Elizabeth Schofield. She is also survived by extended family members, Russell, Katie, Zoe Jean & Nora Grice, & host of nieces & nephews & their families.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Robert Smith Schofield, her parents, & her siblings Dean Davidson, Ollie Mae Winslett, & Donald Davidson, & her son-in-law Barry McCullers.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Bolton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Old Chapel Church, Wilsonville AL.
