Phyllis Spaulding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home on Dec. 25, 2025.
THOMASTON: Phyllis (Ursia) Spaulding, age 74 of Thomaston, beloved wife of the late John Spaulding, entered peaceful rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in Southington surrounded by family. Born in Holyoke, MA on July 21, 1951, she was a daughter of the late William and Doris (McCreery) Ursia.

Phyllis was an energetic and caring person who loved spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed helping others. In her earlier years, she was a bridal consultant for wives to be. Phyllis loved being around children and she was a school bus driver in Shelton for many years. She then drove the bus for Maplewood Assisted Living of Newtown, and loved driving her "Peeps" to various places. She also had a sweet tooth, loved baking, and was known for her "Grammy's Cakes" business she ran from her kitchen; first for her family, and then eventually spreading by word of mouth to friends-of-friends. Above all else, Phyllis loved her family. She was a full-time babysitter for all her grandchildren, and loved it! She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving children, Karyn Spaulding and her companion, John McKeon of Southington, John J. Spaulding and his companion Jodi Gilbert of Woodbury, and Thomas J. Spaulding and his companion Jeanette Martino of NC; her sister, Joyce Davidson; adored grandchildren, Gabrielle MacDonald and her husband Kurtis, Kaylin Tulley and her husband Jordan, Janna Rudy, Brianna Spaulding, Evan Spaulding, Collin Spaulding, T.J. Spaulding, and Olivia Spaulding, as well as her cherished great granddaughter, Hannah Tulley. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her cherished grandson, Brennen Rudy.

All services will be held at a later date and The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
