Phyllis Stanberry Obituary
April 20, 1942 - March 7, 2025
Phyllis Anne Stanberry, age 82, of Charleston, IL, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Memorial services honoring her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Claude Magee and Pastor David Colvin officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Schilling Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born on April 20, 1942 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Owen Ruel Buser and Mariam Blanche (Cole) Buser. She married Thomas Julian Stanberry on December 24, 1961. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2022.
Survivors include her children: Teressa M. (Dane) Perdieu of Ashmore, IL, and Craig T. (Kelly Dews) Stanberry of Owaneco, IL; grandchildren: Danessa A. (Christopher) Carter of Ashmore, IL, Connor T. Stanberry of Springfield, IL, and Madalyn D. Stanberry of Springfield, IL; great-grandchild: Easton A. Carter of Ashmore, IL; and siblings: Anthony L. (Debbie) Buser of Humboldt, IL, and Lana M. Kirkwood of Dorans, IL.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her "Beloved" husband, Thomas; her parents; brother-in-law, Gary Kirkwood; and nephew, Anthony O. Buser.
Phyllis was a retired legal technician from Memorial Hospital and Doctors' Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was a long-term PTA member and officer. Phyllis enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antique glass, and watching game shows. She liked dressing in tie-dye and sparkles, and she fashionably matched her eye cords and reading glasses to every outfit. Most of all, Phyllis enjoyed laughing, loving, and giving to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Heritage Woods for the great care and fantastic friendship they provided over the last several months.
