Phyllis M. Thompson, 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Born on September 11, 1956, she was the daughter of Carl and Vera (Waldo) McCumber. Phyllis spent many years working as a dedicated housekeeper at Days Inn and later did janitorial work for CSP, where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm smile. She retired after a long career of caring for the spaces and people around her.
Phyllis had a lively spirit and a generous heart. She loved nothing more than riding around town on her scooter, visiting with friends and neighbors. Her phone was never far from reach-she enjoyed staying connected and playing games, always up for a quick laugh or a thoughtful message.
Family meant everything to Phyllis. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent playing with them. She was also a loving presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews, always ready with advice, encouragement, and a listening ear.
Phyllis will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Stacy) McMillen; grandchildren, Brooklynn and Owen; brothers, Roy (Sally) McCumber, Arthur McCumber, Ernest (Shirley) McCumber, and Gerald McCumber; and many nieces, nephews and friends, who will miss her dearly.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ivan Lee Thompson and Lewis Andrew Thompson, III; and her siblings, Phillip McCumber, Dorla Thompson, Florence Todd, Carl McCumber, Jr., and Clarence McCumber, Sr.
Friends and family will gather on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 5PM-6PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home.
