Phyllis Jean West, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 67, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on January 9, 1957, to the late Hazel Bedwell and Floyd Demoret. Her life was filled with love, adventure, and an unyielding commitment to her family and career.

On a joyful day in December 1972, Phyllis married her soulmate Gerald "Gary" Lester West and together they built a life that spanned almost five decades. They raised two children, Jennifer (Patrick) Busenbark and Clinton (Alana) West, who brought them immeasurable happiness. The love they shared grew even stronger with the addition of their grandchildren: Destiny (Jacob) Jenkins, Kierra Gill, Raelyn West, Emmett Jones, Nickolas, Brennden, and Reese Busenbark; and great-grandchildren, Paislee Featherston, Ledger Gill, and Oliver and Loralye Jenkins. Their family was her pride and joy.

Phyllis had a distinguished career as the Head of Purchasing & Inventory at Acquity Brand Lighting, where she dedicated 45 years of her life. Upon retiring, she embraced her passions for the great outdoors, spending moments with her loved ones, and indulging in the thrill of bingo halls, casinos, and dirt bike and horse racing. Her favorite pastimes included mushrooming, camping, fishing, and attending various sporting events, all of which she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends.

In addition to her immediate family, Phyllis is survived by her stepsister, Regina (Mo) Brady, siblings Lori (Neal) Miles, Elizabeth (Jim) Halfhill, and Charlie (Kathy) West and Steven (Vicki) Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Gary West; her parents, Hazel Bedwell and Floyd Demoret; her brother, Michael Demoret; and in-laws, Sally and Terrance Willis, James (June) West, Linda West and Jeannie Demoret.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville, on Monday, November 4, 1-3 pm. The funeral service, celebrating Phyllis's life, will follow at 3pm and will proceed to Oakhill North's Cemetery Mausoleum for final farewell.
