Phyllis J. ‘Mimi’ (Meeker) White
With saddened hearts, we announce that Phyllis J. ‘Mimi’ (Meeker) White, age 94, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. Born in Erie, PA on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26, 1931, she was the sixth of seven children to the late C. Burton and Doris G. (Taber) Meeker. She was given the nickname 'Mimi' by her dad during childhood and grew up on a farm in McKean, PA.
Phyllis graduated from McKean Joint High School in 1949 and attended Edinboro State Teachers College for 2 years. Her many jobs included: In-home babysitter, Secretary at Summit Township Municipal Building, Office Manager at The Buoy Restaurant, Collator at Gohrs Printing, and she retired from working to be a nanny for her youngest 2 grandchildren.
She loved bookkeeping and was Treasurer for Summit United Methodist Church, where she was known as 'PJ.' She later was Treasurer for the men's and women's societies at Asbury United Methodist Church, and Secretary/Treasurer for Dunn Valley Cemetery in McKean, PA. She also sang in the church choir for many years.
Phyllis loved to do crafts and was known for her drawings she drew in greeting cards. She had very fond memories of picnics with her children and their families, playing bocce, croquet, board games, and eating her infamous vanilla custard pie with meringue. She also enjoyed watching sports on tv. She had very devoted church friends that she enjoyed going out to lunch with, a neighbor that she had stayed in contact with for over 50 years, and a meaningful pen pal relationship.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert White; her daughter, Susan; her brothers, Donald, Robert, Richard, William, and Norman 'Mike' Meeker; her sister, Virginia Wright; and her grandson, Andrew Coleman.
Survivors include her 4 sons, William ‘Bill’ (Lori), Gary (April), Ronald 'Shaney', all of Waterford, PA, and David 'Jones' (Linda) of Simpsonville, SC; her daughter, Debra (Richard) Coleman of Erie, PA; her grandchildren, Jerad, Kyle, Alex, Trish, Katie, MaryRose, Tanner, and Abby; her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ayla, Shay, Lincoln, Julia, Jynavei ‘JJ’, Lawrence ‘Wren’, Leon, and Myles; her sister-in-law, Shirley (Sonney) Meeker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc. West Ridge, 3801 W 26th St, Erie, PA on Thursday, January 8th from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 pm and on Friday, January 9th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private at Valley Cemetery in McKean, PA.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Walnut Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, as well as a special thank you to nurse Katie and team at AseraCare Hospice for their tender care and compassion.
