Phyllis Lois Shuford Wylie

Phyllis Lois Shuford Wylie, age 93, of Marion, North Carolina, departed this life on February 6, 2025, at Deer Park Rehabilitation Center. Born on August 29, 1931, she was a vibrant spirit whose legacy will be cherished by all who knew her.

Phyllis was a beloved member of her community and a longtime member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, where she found fellowship and belonging. Later in her life, she attended Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued to nurture her faith and connect with others.

She had a love for travel and adventure, always seeking to explore new places and experiences. Phyllis also had a passion for collecting, showcasing her eye for unique treasures that tell a story. Among her many talents, she was known to be a wonderful cook, delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. Her love for thrift shopping often led her to unexpected finds, treasures that she would proudly share.

Phyllis had a green thumb, dedicating time to gardening and nurturing her flowers, which brought her joy and tranquility.

She leaves behind her son, Mark Wylie (Tammy Mills Wylie); her sisters, Maude Sparks, Ann Autrey (Johnny), and Bonnie Moses; her brother, Jay Shuford (Vicky); her grandson, Tory Wylie (Sierra Roland Wylie); her honorary grandchildren, Mariah Mills, Erin Mills and Nicole Mills and her great-grandson, Camden Wylie; numerous nieces and nephews, along with her daughter-in-laws' mother, Shirley and all of her family.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Vernie Shuford and Bertha Gouge Shuford, along with her stepfather, Shirley Creson. She was also preceded by her sisters, Jean Shuford and Erma Rumfelt, and her brother, Ed Shuford.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, both taking place at Faith Baptist Church, located on Hwy 70 East, Marion, NC 28752. The Rev. Jeffrey Wheeler will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.

Phyllis Lois Shuford Wylie's vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire those who loved her.
