Piedad E. Romero, 91, of Wayne, N.J., passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.
Born on July 12, 1934, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Piedad was the daughter of Alberto and Juana (Echeverria) Romero. She lived a humble life, guided by her Catholic faith and a deep devotion to her family. In her thirties, she emigrated to the United States, proudly becoming a U.S. citizen. She made her home first in Hackensack and later in Paterson before settling in Wayne more than twenty years ago. She loved baking, countryside drives in Pennsylvania, and long summer days at the beach. She took great pride in honest work, spending over 40 years as an assembly line inspector, and was admired for her simple and steadfast way of life.
Predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Angel and Flor Romero, she is survived by her loving son, Raymundo Blum-Romero, and daughter, Juanita Veronica Madero; cherished grandchildren, Raymond Blum and his wife, Alexandra, and Justin Blum and his wife, Anastassia; and beloved great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ava, and Theodore. Piedad also leaves behind her dear siblings, Betty Mendoza and her husband, Acentino, and Guillermo Romero, as well as her niece, Maria Natale and her husband, Nicholas, and many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a Catholic Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. Memories and condolences may be shared at gaitamh.com.
