Mrs. Polly McHone Johnson, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at The Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born May 13, 1934, in Surry County, to the late James and Lela Marsh McHone. She was a faithful member of Turkey Ford Baptist Church. She had a servants heart and served her church as church clerk for over 30 years as well as other various positions within the church. She graduated with honors from Copeland Highschool class of 1952. Polly retired from Tultex after 30 plus years of employment. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Cassell and Gray; son and daughter-in-law, David Johnson and Pam; grandchildren, Joshua Cassell and Sarah, Franklin Johnson and Whitney, and Tamara James and Brad; great grandchildren, Annabelle Johnson, Sadie Johnson, Sienna James, Isabella Johnson, and Ezra Cassell; as well as special friends, Lois Spicer, and Lona Marion. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her loving husband, Smith Johnson; great grandchild, Tuff Johnson; sisters, Alene Johnson, Opal Hawks, and Susan Hicks; and brothers, Billy Jo McHone, Buddy McHone, Bobby McHone, and Jack McHone. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hugh Chatham Nursing, Turkey Ford Baptist Church, and The Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all their love and care towards Polly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Turkey Ford Baptist Cemetery Fund in attention to Roger Cooke, at 220 Windsor Park, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Gideons International at P.O. Box 791, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Johnson family.
