Polly Risenhoover was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grammie, and friend. Polly passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of her family January 21, 2025. Polly was born on August 8, 1955 in Shreveport, LA where she enjoyed her early youth before moving to south Arkansas in her twenties. There, she raised three children, eventually moving the family to the Arkansas river valley where she would spend the rest of her life. After retirement, she continued to work as a natural-born homemaker spending the rest of her days close to her husband and children.
Polly is survived by her husband of 22 years Steve Risenhoover; Daughter Susan Thacker (Terry); sons Gary Franks and Michael Franks; Stepchildren Angela Grimes (Jimmie), Brian Risenhoover (Kristina), and Brandon Risenhoover; grandchildren Mackenzie, Sky, Makayla, Steven, Jewel, Matthew (Julie), Angelica, Brianna, Lianna, Brysen, Kyler, and Aleigh; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Jewel Dean Callaway; father Alford Atwood; brother Billy Joe Myrick and sisters Gloria Faye Wead and Betty Vasseur.
Others frequently referred to Polly as a saint. She was selfless beyond measure, endlessly humble, and regardless of circumstance, she always had a kind word to say. Polly never failed to see the good in others, and she became a bottomless well of kindness for all who knew and loved her. Polly's loved ones will honor her memory well by thinking of her in moments where they perform good deeds for others.
Please feel welcome to join the family in honoring Polly by wearing her favorite color, purple to the service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith, AR at 1 pm with cremation to follow under the thoughtful care of the funeral home.
Viewing and visitation with family and friends will be Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5-7 pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
