Renate Stumpf Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Chapel - Fort Smith from Feb. 6 to Feb. 10, 2026.
Renate Stumpf, of Barling, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. She was born on January 16, 1940, in Stuttgart-Weinstadt, Germany, to Fritz and Marie (Frosher) Reimann.

Renate worked as a cosmetologist for a big portion of her life before working and retiring as a Self checkout cashier and door greater for Walmart, all jobs she took great pride in. She found joy in knitting and crocheting, fishing, gardening-what she fondly called "digging in the dirt"-and, most of all, spending time with her children and family. She was a devoted member of both Grand Avenue Baptist Church and the New Apostolic Church. Renate will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose generous heart and caring spirit touched everyone she knew. She was deeply proud to be a naturalized American.

She is survived by her three children, Julia Ammons (Klaus), Louis Brashears (Jo), and Bill Brashears (Sandra); five grandchildren, Michael Brashears, Ben Ammons, Rachel Ammons, Tyler McCary, and Ethan McCary; and three great-grandchildren, Jakob, Emily, and Abigail. She is also survived by Gunther Russell, Betty Wilson, and Rodney Russell.

Renate was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Don Brashears and Arthur Stumpf; her daughter, Mary Lou; her granddaughter, Nikki Brashears; and her four sisters, Gertrude, Helga, Erna, and Erika.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026. The service will be officiated by Michael Pillows and Chad Mann. Interment will follow at Rogers Cemetery in Rogers, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Louis Brashears, Bill Brashears, Benjamin Ammons, Jakob Ammons, Rodney Russell, and honorary pallbearers are Michael Brashears who is currently active duty in the United States Navy, Klaus Ammons, Carlas Good, David Wilson, Tyler McCary, Ethan McCary and Matt Glenn.
