A devoted wife, caring mother, proud grandmother, and loving sister, Pollyanne (Polly) Masterson Simmons passed away on October 21, 2025 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN surrounded by her family. Polly was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on March 12, 1953 to Robert and Pauline (Smith) Masterson. Early in her childhood the family relocated to California where Polly would spend her formative years before returning to Alabama to graduate from high school in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Polly was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and for the past nine years was part of the Cumberland Heights congregation in Doyle, TN. She found joy and satisfaction as a stay-at-home mom, raising two boys. However, she returned to school and earned her associates degree in Engineering Technology from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and went on to a rewarding career in computer drafting. Polly was an avid reader, an exceptional organizer, an accomplished seamstress, a gifted gardener, a joyful dancer, and a bluegrass enthusiast. Polly enjoyed time spent playing card or board games, taking charge in a kitchen, and dropping everything to run errands for someone in need.
Polly was happiest when surrounded by her family: her husband W J; her brothers, Robert Masterson and Steve Masterson; her sons, Fred (Zoë) Rascoe and James (Claire) Rascoe; and her five grandchildren: Cyrus, Ruby, Violet, Nora, and Ian.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family expresses their deep appreciation and gratefulness to the caregivers at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
The family will accept visitors from 12:00PM until 3:00pm Monday October 27,2025 in the chapel of Cumberland Heights Church of Christ.
