Allore-Martenson Funeral Home - Ford ChapelPondy Kinney, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on October 15, 2025, after courageously battling cancer. Born on August 4, 1966, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Pondy dedicated over 30 years of her life to the Woodhaven Public Schools, where her passion and commitment to her students left an indelible mark.
Pondy was not just a devoted school district employee; she was also a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She found immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a mother to her three children: Ashley (Phil Bryant) Nutter, John Kinney, Jr. (Elayna Rickett), and Justin Kinney. Her grandchildren, Brooklyn, Peighton, Vivianne, Khayden, and Isabella, were the lights of her life, and she loved them with all her might. Pondy took great pride in being involved in their lives, always supporting them and cheering them on in their endeavors.
She enjoyed playing darts and was a passionate fan of the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers, sharing her enthusiasm for sports and life with those around her. Pondy’s zest for life and unwavering spirit inspired so many, teaching everyone the value of resilience and love.
She is survived by her dear family members: her children and grandchildren, her brother Mickey (Tammy) Moore, her nieces Juli and Nicole (Robert), her great-niece Rylee, and her great-nephew Brody. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love and strength.
Pondy was preceded in death by her husband, John Kinney, Sr., and her mother, Janet Moore. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew Pondy.
A visitation to honor Pondy will be held on October 25, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Ford Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes in Rockwood, Michigan. A funeral service will also take place on the same day, starting at 6:00 p.m.
