Precious Marva "Lou" Gilbert was born in Sumter, SC March 12, 1948 and departed this earth to join the Lord April 30, 2024. She was the daughter of Hezekiah Davis and Katherine Prince Davis.
In 1966, Precious graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1969 she married Karl Gilbert of Frederick, MD and had 2 children, Robin and Regina Gilbert. Precious moved to Florence, SC in the late seventies. She worked at Sears and later Florence Textiles for 15 years. She joined Florence School District #1 as a custodian working at various schools. In this role she was beloved by staff and students and retired in 2014.
Precious joined Abundant Life Church in 2010 after being invited by her grandson, Roderick Brooks. She cherished church family and participated in many church activities. Lou loved spending hours in her yard, planting trees and flowers, or just sitting. She loved thrifting and collecting Knick Knacks and what-nots.
Precious leaves behind two children, Robin Gilbert of Kansas City, MO and Regina Gilbert of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, Roderick Brooks of Kansas City, MO, Jeremy Collins and Justin Burgess of Baltimore, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Precious shared blessings of love whomever she encountered. Precious will be remembered for her love of God, family and friends.
Arrangements for Ms. Gilbert have been entrusted to Ideal Funeral Parlor, Inc.
