Preston Jon Mitchell, a cherished son, beloved brother, and devoted uncle passed away on October 23, 2024, in Vicksburg, Michigan, at the age of 33. Born on December 31, 1990, in Hermon, New York, Preston's journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to family, personal growth, and a passion for adventure.
A graduate of Bronson High School, with the Class of 2009. He was an athlete, excelling in wrestling, football, and track. He was a talented pole vaulter. He took pride in sharing his knowledge with his younger brothers, Anthony and Nicholas, teaching them the nuances of the sport. After high school, Preston pursued higher education at Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Upon becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Preston's professional path led him to reputable organizations, including Raymond James and Crowe Horwath International, now known as Crowe Global.
Beyond his professional achievements, Preston held a special place in the hearts of his family. He was the middle child among six in the Mitchell family, with loving parents Matt and Tamara (Carr) Mitchell. His selflessness and generosity were evident in the bonds he had with his nine nieces and nephews, each of whom he gifted their first baseball glove. As a loving uncle, he delighted in watching them grow and always made time to be an encouraging presence in their lives.
Preston was known for his adventurous spirit. His love for travel took him from the mountains to the sea, and he never hesitated to embrace new experiences. If he was near snow or sea, his day would involve snowboarding or surfing. He also had a knack for construction, enjoying the process of building and flipping homes as a side passion.
Described by those who knew him as amazing, loving, encouraging, and very intelligent, Preston leaves a lasting legacy of kindness, adventure, and family devotion. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire those who carry forward his spirit of adventure and selfless love.
