Priscilla Shea Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home - Braintree on Jan. 13, 2025.
Priscilla Anne Shea, of Natick, passed away on January 7, 2025, at the Braintree Rehab Hospital in Massachusetts after a brief illness. Born on June 26, 1935, in Burlington, Maine, she was the daughter of Charles F. and Dora C. (Tooker) Hatch and one of eight children.
Priscilla was a devoted and hardworking mother who embraced a simple life and cherished her family deeply. She graduated from Lee Academy in Maine in 1952 and began working in Bangor, where she met her first husband, Robert E. Ostreicher. Robert's Army service took them to Georgia and Alaska, where their first child, Karen, was born in 1954. After his discharge, the couple settled in Kittery, Maine, where their three other children, Judy, Dorathy, and Daniel, were born. In the 1960s, the family moved to Natick, Massachusetts, where Robert joined the family advertising business in Boston. Priscilla held fond memories of their Kinsman Place neighborhood and its lifelong friendships. Following a divorce, she married George J. Shea in the 1970s.
Priscilla balanced her role as a homemaker with work in dental offices, retail stores such as Jordan Marsh, and ultimately a 20+ year career as a blood drive recruiter at Leonard Morse Hospital/MetroWest. She was honored for her dedicated service there. In retirement, she found joy in gardening, selling flowers at her roadside stand, crocheting for family and charitable causes, traveling, collecting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her siblings, Anita McKee of Everett, WA, and Randy Hatch (Sandra) of Lincoln, ME; her children, Karen Hendricksen of Cohasset, MA, Judy Heid (David) of Vancouver, WA, Dorathy Harman (David) of Irvine, CA, and Daniel Ostreicher of Westport, MA; seven grandchildren, Jacob Ostreicher, Johnathan Ostreicher, Carly Aday, David "Benjamin" Harman, Sarah Morales, Cory Hendricksen, and Ryan Hendricksen; and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins across the U.S. and Canada.
Priscilla was predeceased by her parents; her spouse, George J. Shea; three sisters, Leila Gordon, Kathy McKinnon, and Charlene Rideout; and three brothers, Andrew Hatch, Bill Walker, and baby brother Johnny.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Braintree Rehab Hospital for the compassionate care Priscilla received, as well as to Brookdale at Cushing Park, Independent Living, Hospice, and At Home services.
A celebration of her life will take place on June 28, 2025, at the home of Daniel Ostreicher in Westport, Massachusetts.
Arrangements under the care of the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, Braintree.
