Prudencio Chacon Jr., age 84, a resident of El Rito, NM, passed away on May 19, 2024.
Prudy was preceded in death by his sons, Stephen and Roy Chacon; parents, Jose P. and Anna Maria Chacon; father-in-law, Casimiro Perezchica; mother-in-law, Juanita Reyes; sisters, Agapita “Connie” Lucero, Joanne Chacon, Prescilla Gaviria and Beatrice Gonzales; half-sister, Dumitilia Peterson; brothers, Tony Chacon, Tomas Chacon and Dale “Ben” Chacon; half-brothers, Jacobo and Alfonso Gallegos, brother-in-law, Guadalupe Perezschica.
Prudy is survived by his beautiful wife of 45 years, Carmen Chacon; granddaughters, Mercedes McCluskey (Michael); and Zhane Stephanie Chacon; grandsons Jordan and Stephen Chacon, Jr.; great granddaughters, Opal Aspen and Ember Rose McCluskey; sisters, Ermelinda (Allen) Crim of Abiquiu, NM; Tila Chacon (David Suazo) of El Rito, NM; and a niece raised like a sister, Lorraine Prescilla Chacon of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-laws, Socorro Perezchica and Rosa Maria Abilez; brothers, Eusebio Chacon (Susanna Garcia) of El Rito, NM; Joe “Ted” Chacon of Marysville, CA; Fedelino Chacon (Tonita) of Alcalde, NM; and Chris Chacon of Taos, NM; brother-in-law Andrew Gonzales; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 5:30 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola and a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10:00 am at San Juan de Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
