In Loving Memory of Puspaben Shantilal Mistry

March 1, 1933 – September 7, 2025

Puspaben S. Mistry, age 92, peacefully entered the eternal lila of Sri Sri Radha Damodhar on September 7, 2025, at home, surrounded by her beloved family and loved ones.

Born as Kamu on March 1, 1933, in Borsad, Gujarat, to Himatbhai and Jiben, she enjoyed a joyful childhood alongside her sister Shantaben and brothers Ratibhai and Mahendrabhai.

In 1950, she married Shantilal Mistry and moved to Surat. It was only after her marriage that her name changed to Puspa, meaning flower, a name that would become synonymous with love, resilience, and devotion. Together, they raised a beautiful family of five children-three sons and two daughters. She managed her household with grace while staying deeply connected to her devotional community through satsang, seva, preparing meals for Janmashtami celebrations, and regularly visiting the Kantareshwar Mahadev Mandir. One of her most cherished family traditions was gathering every evening to sing the Yamunastakam.

Puspaben was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose life was defined by selfless service, family, and deep spirituality. After her husband Shantilal's passing in 1980, she became the heart of the Mistry family, lovingly caring for her children and grandchildren while sharing her warmth and generosity to friends, neighbors, and extended relatives from Africa.

She first came to the United States in 1981 to visit her eldest daughter Dipika. She moved permanently to the U.S. in 1995 along with the rest of her children, reuniting the family once again under one roof.

She had a deep love for serving others, making sure everyone was happy and fed. No meal was ever complete without her signature keri-methi na bhajia.

In her spiritual journey, Puspaben deepened her devotion to Sri Krishna, eventually taking diksha and receiving the spiritual name Parakastha Devi Dasi. She found fulfillment in both serving her family, and serving the Lord and listening to bhajans and katha.

Even while facing immense health challenges such as severe arthritis, third-degree burns, and three strokes- she remained resilient and a pillar of strength for all of us. Her legacy of love, service, and faith continues to inspire all who knew her.

Puspaben is survived by her five loving children and their spouses: Dipika & Pushpahas, Mayur & Janak, Dixit & Kusum, Harsha & Arun, Dhiren & Nita.

She leaves behind ten grandchildren and their spouses: Manish & Nisha, Chirag & Nidhi, Reena, Vinay & Rohini, Ashish, Nilay & Neepa, Bhavin, Monil, Parth, & Navik.

She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Nandini, Sundari, Arjun, Shiv, Isha, Dev, Anaay, Mila, and our newest blessing, Vrajeshwari.

Her love, warmth, and strength touched every life she encountered. For us, she will always hold a special place in our heart as our Baa.

We love you, Baa.

Jai Shree Krishna
