It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Q. J. Smith Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on January 24, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 15, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, Q. J. spent a remarkable life that touched the hearts of many.

Q. J. proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting on March 31, 1962, and serving honorably until his discharge on January 14, 1966. His commitment to service was a testament to his character, displaying the essence of dedication and integrity that defined his life.

After his military service, Q. J. returned home to carry on a fulfilling career as a maintenance mechanic working for American Airlines, Gifford-Hill, and Zurn Corporation working as an equipment mechanic until his retirement. His mechanical skills were only rivaled by his passion for music, which brought joy to his life and the lives of those around him. He shared a deep bond with his beloved wife, Doris Smith, whom he married on May 30, 1987. Together, they built a beautiful family and created lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

Q. J. is survived by his wife, Doris and his brother, Terry Smith. He is also survived by his children, Vicki Parr and husband Ron; Russell Alston, Rachel King and husband, Trevor; and sons, Mike, Charlie, Steve, and Terry from a prior marriage. Grandchildren Brianne and husband, Nick; Chloe, Rachel, and husband Dax; Ryan, Tanner and wife, Meghan. Great grandchildren, Ezra, Ike, Zane, Mac, Olive and Ozzie He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come.

Visitation for Q. J. will be held on January 30, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the lasting mark he has left on our hearts.

As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the lives of all who loved him. Rest in peace, Q. J. Smith Jr.-you will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Q. J. was preceded in death by his parents: Quinton Smith, Faye Smith, and sister, Linda Smith.
