R. Darl Allison

1940 - 2026

R. Darl Allison, 85, of DuBois, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026.

Born on December 29, 1940, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Darl was the beloved son of the late Frank Ward Allison and Gaynelle Henry Allison. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Allison.

Darl shared 62 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Janice Mowrey Allison. Their partnership was one of devotion, laughter, loyalty, and steady companionship. Whether shopping together, taking day trips, or simply sitting side by side watching television, they found joy in life's simplest moments. If you drove past their home on almost any afternoon, you would likely see Darl outside "tinkering," carefully tending to his impeccably kept lawn, with Janice nearby watching - a quiet picture of enduring love.

He is also survived by his children, Justine Allison, R. Darren Allison (Kelli Genevro Allison), and Jill Yates (Brett Yates); and his cherished granddaughters, Kaelee Ross, Darian Allison Rawson (Greg Rawson), Danessa Allison, Rachel Yates, and Cecilia Yates.

Darl earned his mechanical engineering education from Penn State University and began building his future at a young age alongside his father in the construction business. Through dedication and skill, he built not only structures, but a lasting legacy - eventually owning Allison & Associates with his son Darren. His work ethic, craftsmanship, and commitment to doing things the right way earned him deep respect in both his profession and his community.

Outside of work, Darl loved hunting, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He was happiest with a project in front of him and fresh air around him. He took pride in every detail, whether in his business, his home, or his yard. He was a member of The John E. Reed Lodge and the Reynoldsville Presbyterian Church.

Nothing brought Darl greater joy than his granddaughters. They were the light of his life and the center of his world. He cherished every moment spent with them and carried immense pride in each of their accomplishments. His family was his greatest achievement and his most treasured blessing.

Though he could be a bit stubborn at times, that very trait gave him remarkable strength and determination. It allowed him to live far beyond expectations, giving his family precious additional years of memories, celebrations, and togetherness.

Darl will be remembered as a gentle, big-hearted, deeply loving husband, father, and Papa. He would do anything for his family, and the lessons he taught through his example - hard work, loyalty, resilience, and unconditional love - will live on in each of them.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, DuBois PA, with a service to follow at 1 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will take place in Lakelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Special Olympics organization in Darl's honor.
