Richard Dale Dean

Richard Dale Dean, 93, of Parsons, died Sunday, January 18, 2026 at his home.
He was born January 23, 1932 at Sterling, Colorado, a son of Ruthford and Cora (Beasley) Dean. His family moved to Parsons soon after he was born and he grew up and attended school here. After graduating from the Parsons High School in 1949 he attended the Pittsburg State Teachers College and received a teaching degree. He taught Science in Fredonia, KS and Miami, OK. He later moved to Lawrence and attended the University of Kansas where he received two Master's Degrees and his Ph.D.. He then moved to Kansas City in 1965 and began working at the K.U. Medical Center as a Radiological Health Physicist. After retirement, he returned to Parsons in March 2000.
On January 26, 1954 he was united in marrige to Caroline June Dutton at the former First United Methodist Church at Parsons. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2004.
He had attended the First Christian Church at Parsons. He also belonged to E.L.K.S. Lodge No. 527, in Parsons. He enjoyed sailing and was active in a sailing club. He also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include: one son – Rick Dean, Olathe, KS; one daughter - Cathy Dean, Parsons, KS; one sister – Ruth Harris, Owasso, OK. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Dean on February 6, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Reverend Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 Friday evening at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
