R. Scott Sanford, a cherished husband, beloved friend, and esteemed member of the community, left this world on December 18, 2024, in Grove City, Ohio. Born on April 6, 1961, in Lansing, Michigan, Scott’s life was one filled with joy, laughter, and a passion for connection.

Scott's journey through life was marked by both academic and professional accomplishments. A proud graduate of Holt High School, he furthered his education at Michigan State University, earning dual degrees in cellular biology and biochemistry.  Throughout his career, he showcased his versatility by working at Sanford Finished Wall alongside his brother, tending bar at the Eagles, and fulfilling the role of kitchen manager at Moose Lodge 11. Scott truly enjoyed his work as a minister for the Universal Life Church, where he had the honor of performing numerous weddings, uniting couples in love.

Scott was known for his vibrant personality. He blended intelligence with humor, creating a warm atmosphere around him. His grace and care were especially evident in his 27-year marriage to his beloved wife, Moira Sanford. Together, they found joy in life’s little adventures, often attending conventions for various clubs they cherished. The love and camaraderie shared between them were a source of inspiration for those fortunate enough to witness it.

Among his proudest accomplishments were his ministerial duties, which embodied his generous spirit and desire to spread love. He was also a certified diver, assisting the state of Michigan police department in underwater recoveries —a testament to his adventurous heart. More than any title or job, Scott took immense pride in the life he and Moira built together, enriched by shared experiences and mutual love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Moira Sanford, and cousins Mark, Jeff, and Stephanie Sanford, who will carry his memory forward. Scott’s legacy will continue with all who had the privilege of knowing him, for his laughter and kindness will forever resonate in their hearts.

Scott's journey was not without its losses. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas Sanford, his mother, Margaret Sanford, and his brother, Jerry Sanford. Their memories live on in the stories shared among family and friends, a reminder of the love that shaped Scott's life.

Visitation for R. Scott Sanford will take place on December 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. As we gather to honor a life well-lived, let us celebrate the laughter, love, and profound legacy he has left behind.
