R. Ailene Williams Obituary
Friendship --- Ruth Ailene Williams, a former resident of Friendship, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Garden Terrace of Aurora, Colorado. She was born on September 8, 1933, in Cuba, the first of seven children to the late Clifford A. and G. Lucile Steenrod Williams.
Ailene graduated as salutatorian of the class of 1952 from Friendship Central School. She went on to receive an associate degree from Alfred State College and worked for several years as a lab technician at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester before moving to Colorado.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, listening to classical music, playing with her cat April, skiing, attending church services and singing along with the hymns, and returning home to share in family gatherings and important events.
Surviving are her siblings: L. Herbert (Karen) Williams of Fillmore; Martha Williams of Centerville, Ohio; Walter (Dottie) Williams of Clearwater, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three siblings, brothers Robert Williams and Albert Williams both in 2022 and sister Edythe Ann Thompson in 2020.
A graveside service will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship in the spring. Pastor Bob Schooley will officiate.
