Obituary of Rachael Young Goldman
Rachael Young Goldman, loving daughter, wife, and mother peacefully passed away on Monday, August 25th 2025 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family with the support of her close friends. Rachael is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob", her children, Samuel, Talya, and Rami, her mother, Adrienne Young, and her sister-in-law Michelle.
Rachael was born on January 6th, 1968 to Adrienne Young in Omaha, Nebraska. She and her mom then moved to Larchmont, New York to be close to her grandparents, Sylvia and Eugene Trevor. She grew up in Larchmont and graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1986. Rachael moved to Denver to attend the University of Denver where she made life long friends and studied religious studies. She graduated in 1990.
After college Rachael worked at DU's Hillel organization and through her friends there she met her future husband, Bob, on a blind date. They got married shortly afterwards on a rainy July 31st in 1994, celebrating more than 31 amazing years together. Rachael and Bob would go on to have 3 children, with several cats and dogs along the way, all adding to the balagan of their lives.
Rachael was a self-described lizard, taking every opportunity to travel to the desert on vacation to soak up the sun and heat. She would take her family on various trips including going on month long road trips to California and the southwest and traveling with the family to Israel. She loved being on the road and hitting all of the National Parks for hiking, and having time with her family.
Rachael loved color. This led to her exploration of arts and crafts that her and many other's homes are filled with. She made many quilts, both decorative wall hangings and warm blankets. Her desire to not have waste led to creative uses for fabric scraps including fabric dying, fabric bowls, jewelry making, and mask making. She also loved to crochet, making hundreds of hats that she donated to her cancer and neonatal centers.
Rachael learned to turn wood on a lathe, turning rifle stocks into trowel handles and pens. She began to learn wood working after volunteering with RAWTools, an organization dedicated to reducing gun violence in the community.
Rachael became a team mom for Sam and Talya's robotics team, and for Rami's fencing club. Another of her passions was fighting food insecurity, and food education with Hazon, and advancing pancreatic cancer research with PanCan.
Funeral and burial service will be graveside at Mount Nebo on Tuesday, August 26 at 1:00 PM with Rabbi Brody of Jewish Family Service officiating. A livestream will be available on the Feldman Mortuary YouTube channel.
Shiva will be held at the home of Robert "Bob" Goldman (call Feldman Mortuary for address 303-322-7764) on Tuesday 8/26, Wednesday 8/27, and Thursday 8/28 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM, with minyan each night at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to RAWTools and the family also wishes to express their gratitude to The Denver Hospice
