Rachel Aileen Cox Davis

Rachel Aileen Cox Davis, age 96, went to her heavenly home on Saturday March 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 13, 1929, to Percy and Leoline Routh Cox. Rachel was a graduate of Grays Chapel High School.

She was married to the love of her life, Wade R. Davis, for 70 wonderful years. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Wade, parents Percy and Leoline Cox, son-in-law Harry Smith, sisters Ruth, Blanche, Mary, Louvelia, Martha, Doris, and Irene; brothers John Page, Charles, James Ray, and Percy Jr.

She is survived by daughters Susan D. Jones (Mike) of Greensboro and Carol D. Smith of Randleman; Grandchildren: Jenni J. Newkirk, Rob Jones, Clark Jones, Stephen Williams, Andrew Williams, and Katie W. Hogan; 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Sister Margaret C. Ester of Randleman and brother Wayne Cox (Delores) of Arkansas.

Rachel was an avid gardener, always happiest when tending to her yard. She was also an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful clothes, handmade keepsakes and quilts with skill and care. She and Wade cherished their travels to Amish Country in Pennsylvania, where they formed a lifelong bond with the Esh family.

A devoted member of South Plainfield Friends Meeting in Sophia, NC, Rachel remained active in her church community for as long as her health allowed.

She will be profoundly missed by her family, neighbors, church, and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and CNAs at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation of Asheboro, as well as the team at Gentiva Hospice, for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 12:45-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro, 437 Sunset Avenue. Funeral services will follow 2:00 pm with Rev. Ricky Sessoms and Rev. Hugh Spalding officiating. Burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.
