LEOMINSTER – Rachel (Day) Macphee, 76, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Hospital Leominster Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 2, 1949, in Clinton, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marie (Bisson) Day.
Rachel grew up locally and graduated from Wachusett Regional HS in 1967. After high school, she earned her associate degree at Quinsigamond Community College. She drove school buses, started her own cleaning company and went on to build a career with Hanover Insurance, where she worked as a Customer Service Supervisor for many years.
She met the love of her life, David Macphee, and they were married in 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life in Holden, raising their son, Jamie.
Rachel was always fond of traveling to different places and camping with friends and family, she loved to bake and host at holidays. She was always trying new recipes and passing good ones along to others. During her retirement, she especially enjoyed spending time at the beach with David and her dog Lilo.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, David MacPhee, as well as her parents Ken and Marie, her sister Carol and nephew Robert.
She leaves behind her devoted son, Jamie MacPhee and his wife Amanda of Holden; her siblings, Dennis and his wife Lisa, Richard and his wife Joanna, her niece Diana and her husband Chuck as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A memorial service for both Rachel and David will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Miles Funeral Home, Holden.
