Rachele Capogna Obituary

Obituary of Rachele M. Capogna

Rachele Marie Capogna

April 29, 1940 – March 1, 2026

Rachele Marie Capogna passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and kindness.

Born on April 29, 1940, Rachele shared 67 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Americo Capogna, a partnership defined by enduring love, commitment, and family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Americo Capogna, her sister, Josephine Scaccia, and her children and their spouses: Vincent Capogna and his wife Barbara; Theresa Gomes and her husband Rodney; Angela Leva and her husband John; and Lisa Reali and her husband Peter.

She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Nicholas Capogna; Rachael Gomes; Alex Capogna and his wife Regina; John Michael Reali and his wife Nicole; Tatiana Reali; John Nunzio Leva; Julia Leva; and Joseph Leva. She lovingly referred to them as "The Best 8."

Throughout her life, she made her home in The Bronx, Queens, Old Westbury, Port Washington, and Garden City, creating welcoming homes filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. For the past two years, Rachele and Americo lived comfortably in the home of Theresa and Rodney in Williston Park. Rachele also loved spending time with her personal aide, Gail Fagen, who loved her back equally.

Rachele loved being a homemaker, taking great pride in caring for her family and home. When she was younger, she worked as a switchboard operator at New York Telephone and was also a hat model. For a brief time, she enjoyed working beside her daughter, Angela, with the moms and children at the Malawi Boutique in Queens. Later in life, she took great pleasure in using her impeccable fashion sense to help women style themselves at her favorite store, Lord & Taylor. She also found joy in playing tennis, playing cards with friends, shopping, and entertaining, and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

Rachele was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

May the Lord grant her eternal rest, and may perpetual light shine upon her.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
